Things
to Do in Singapore
Family-friendly places abound in Singapore, if you know where to
find them. Apart from the usual well-loved places not to be missed,
we have also discovered some real gems which will thrill both the
children and the adults. Check them out below!
The
Great Outdoors
Cruise on a Yacht
Pack the entire family
off to a one-day or half-day cruise onboard a cheery family yacht!
It is much more affordable than you think! You may either go island-hopping,
or, for a cheaper but no less exhilarating experience, opt for the
sunset bbq cruise. You get the entire yacht to yourselves (max 12
persons) and get to be treated like royalty. We were most impressed
by the friendly and professional captain and his assistant, who
made the trip comfortable and cosy.
The best part was the sunset bbq, featuring an extravagant spread
of seafood (and we are talking about giant prawns here!) and the
usual bbq fare. The Captain and his assistant anchored the yacht
at a spot and began bbq-ing for the rest of us. We were totally
pampered. Some chose to eat inside the yacht but the rest of us
simply chilled out on the deck, wining and dining the evening away.
The kiddos and adults
alike will enjoy particularly the ride on top of the deck, with
the seabreeze blowing against the face, against the sunset - life
does not get any better! You have to try it yourself to know what
we mean.

For more information,
check out their website at
www.bbboats.com.
Do ask them for a cheaper option if you don't wish to travel on
the luxury yacht - they do have other yachts to choose from. Also,
if you don't find any of the packages suitable you may request to
customise a package that fits your budget - as we did.
Wet

Changi Airport
Here, you can get a nice
hearty breakfast with free train rides. :-) We know of many families
who come here simply for the ambience and to fantasise about the
next family holiday. It gets cold so remember to bring along sweaters
for the little ones.
The Libraries
There is no better way
to encourage a love for reading at a young age than by surrounding
your children with books and more books. The libraries these days
are comfortable and extremely conducive. The Galilee Cafe which
can be found in certain branches (eg. Ang Mo Kio and Queenstown)
offers value-for-money snacks and serves up a fragrant cuppa at
an affordable price.
Camp@Home
Buy a tent (eg. the ones
from Ikea) and pack the kiddos off for an adventure! Pretend it
is Winter and have the kiddos stay warm inside their tents. Mummy
can be the benevolent deliverer of foodstuff and toys to the campers.
